WI-FI INTERNET-Doing it RIGHT the first time! 
 
     While the entire hotel industry was in rushing to be the "first on the block" to provide their guests with internet access, Windmill Inns was searching for the BEST way to provide guests a reliable system, with ease of use and at no-cost.   Our research meant taking a bit longer to provide the service, but it also resulted in a much better service for you, our guests! It was our goal to:

-Provide High Speed (up to 11 MBPS) Internet to All Guest Rooms and Common Areas
-Provide this service to our guests at NO CHARGE.
-Choose a technology that was easy to use
-Choose a vendor that would provide FREE 24/7 Telephone Tech Support to our guests
-Choose a vendor that would provide solutions for guests who do NOT have a wireless network card
            when they arrive.  (Wireless Cards and Bridges available at our front desks)

     We are pleased to announce that we have accomplished these goals (and more) by choosing Matrix Networks' GWIS Solution for all Windmill Inn properties.  As our guest you may now enjoy the use of High Speed Wireless Internet Access from the comfort of your guest room at no charge!

Already have a wireless card?
     Users who already have Wireless Capabilities will be able to connect to our access points from their room and most common areas of our hotels.

Not sure if you have the necessary equipment?
     Users who do not already have a wireless network card on their PC need only have a Network Interface Card (NIC-RJ45 Jack) or a PCMCIA card slot to use the equipment provided at our front desk.  (Credit Card will be required for deposit.  Service available to registered guests only).  A standard modem jack will not provide the required connectivity to obtain "high speed" access.

     If you have any difficulty in making your internet connection, a Toll-Free number is provided on the "tent card" located in every room.  Simply call that number, leave your call back information and Matrix will contact you shortly.

Acceptable Use:  When you connect to a network, you become a part of that "community" of users.  In order to provide the best experience for ALL users, we have installed equipment that inhibits users from doing any of the following:

1-Using the network to send out SPAM E-mail.  If your PC is detected as one that is sending large amounts of e-mail in very short periods of time, network access will automatically be disabled.
2-Using the network while infected with a virus.  If the equipment determines that your PC is infected with a virus, network access will be disabled.
3-If your PC has a running Point-To-Point File Sharing program running (Kazaa, Morpheus, Bear Share, etc.), your access to the network will be automatically disabled.
4-Certain ON-LINE gaming software that utilizes multiple ports may also result in your PC being disable from network access.

Any of these three categories of use have the potential for obtaining ALL of the network's available bandwidth if not properly controlled.  This results in other users within the network being denied access all together or having incredibly slow connections, while the "abusing PC" is using it all.


PLEASE NOTE:  Due to the nature of technology, the extensive number of variables involved in making a connection, potential equipment failure and varying levels of user knowledge,  uninterrupted High Speed Connectivity and Business Center Functionality can not be guaranteed.  As a result challenges with these technologies do not qualify under Windmill Inns' 110% Hospitality Guarantee Program.  We do NOT anticipate that you will have any challenges.  We ask that if you do (with the technology or with the support provided by Matrix Networks) please let our property Management know as soon as possible during your stay.

Basic Tech Overview

Got Wi-Fi? If your laptop is equipped with built-in wireless functionality or if you already have a wireless network card capable of functioning in an 802.11B network, then no additional equipment should be required from our front desk.
Simply scan for a MATRIX access point from your room and connect!

Standard Phone Line Jack (Modem).  This type of jack will NOT provide the needed connectivity for High Speed Internet.  It is used for standard "Dial Up" connections only.

RJ 45 (Network) jack.  Found on almost all new laptops and built into most home PCs.  This is used for high speed network connections.  You can recognize this type of jack by looking for 8 "conductors" or wires in the jack.  It is roughly twice the width of a standard phone/modem jack.  This is a MINIMUM requirement if your laptop/PC does not have a Wireless Network Card or built in Wireless capability.  It will require the use of a NETWORK BRIDGE.  Guests may obtain a bridge for use from our front desk  (Subject to availability) at no charge.
